TROUT RUN - A chicken barbecue will be held starting at 3:30 p.m. at the Trout Run United Methodist Church, off of Route 14. Dinners will be served until the chicken is gone. Meal packaging volunteers needed
JERSEY SHORE - Volunteers are needed to assist Outreach Inc. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1407 Allegheny St., as it packages 50,000 meals that will be distributed to people in Lycoming and Clinton counties by area food banks. Needed are 100 volunteers on 10 assembly lines working shifts that begin at 9, 10 and 11 a.m. Call 570-398-1676 to sign-up for one of the shifts. Meals cost 25 cents to produce and financial donations are being sought to help cover expenses. Heritage Days celebrated
WATSONTOWN - First Presbyterian Church, 401 Main St., will hold services at 9:30 a.m. at Warrior Run Church for Heritage Days. The Rev. Paul A. Smith will portray Pastor Jim McCurdy, a character he created last year for the Warrior Run service. Smith will be assisted by several members of the congregation: Sandie Fairman, Wally Fairman and Rick Wolfe, as they reprise their roles from last year. The First Presbyterian Chancel Choir will perform. Communion will be served by costumed interpreters.

Child evangelism fall banquet deadline set
WELLSBORO - Registration deadline is Oct. 7 for the Child Evangelism Fellowship of Tioga County Inc. annual fall banquet at 6 p.m. Oct. 19 at the Wellsboro Fireman's Annex. A turkey and biscuit dinner with pumpkin crunch dessert will be served. The cost is free, however a free will offering will be taken to cover expenses. The 2013 Summer Missionaries, Rebekah Erway and Tawny Amarosa, will give a testimony on how the Lord worked in their lives and the lives of the children over the summer. A musical ensemble from the Tabernacle Baptist Church also will be enjoyed.
