A gunman made off with an undisclosed amount of cash after robbing a clerk at the Kaba Resort and Night Club on Route 15 in South Williamsport about 2:30 a.m. Thursday, according to borough Police Chief Robert Hetner.
The clerk was not injured during the holdup, Hetner said.
No descriptive details of the suspect were released for the public.
In addition to the robbery, police are investigating three home burglaries that occurred in the "central part" of the borough on Monday or Tuesday, Hetner said, declining to be more specific with the locations at this point of the investigation.
Police would not say if the homes were unlocked or if they were forcibly entered.
Police also are investigating a rash of items being stolen from vehicles in the west end of the borough during the same two days, Hetner said.
No other details were released, except that Hetner said items were reportedly taken from vehicles in DuBoistown as well.
"Everyone should lock their vehicles and homes to prevent entries being made," Hetner said.
"Leave lights on or install motion detecting lights. If you hear an unusual noise, see any suspicious activity. please report it immediately. Something that seems minimal may be the lead that we need to make an arrest," Hetner said.
"If you witness a burglary or theft in progress, call 911 immediately," he added.
Anyone who has any information about this week's burglaries or the thefts from cars is asked to call 570-327-8152 or 570-433-4360, Hetner said.
