MUNCY - Muncy Borough Council nominated current officer-in-charge Jim Dorman to be its next police chief at its meeting Tuesday night.
Council voted 4-1 to send Dorman's application to civil services for approval.
Linda Stein voted against the nomination.
"I just want to clarify my negative vote," Stein said. "It's not because I don't like Jimmy, but I'm in favor of interviewing all candidates a second time."
Council members Tillie Noviello and Galen Betzer were absent.
Borough Manager Bill Ramsey updated council on a property on Mill Street that now is under an agreement of sale.
"Part of the terms is the property needs to be rezoned. It's presently light industry," Ramsey said.
Right now, the intended use of the property, once it goes through brownfield clearance, likely will be apartments, with possible business space on the first floor.
Council also discussed tree trimming.
"Do you have any idea where trees were pruned in town? I know it's a stupid question, but I haven't seen any going," Councilman Jonathan Ort asked.
"They came through and pruned mine. I came home and there was a hole in mine," Councilwoman Elaine McAleer said.
"PennLines does a lot of them. They did some on Sherman Street," Dorman said.
The next borough council meeting is at 7 p.m. Oct. 17 at Myers Elementary School, 125 New St.
