Donald D. Herriman, 74, of Hughesville, died Tuesday Oct. 1, 2013, at the Muncy Valley Hospital. He was born May 3, 1939, in Williamsport, a son of the late Artie L. and Agnes J. (Bartlow) Herriman. Sept. 12, 1997, he married his companion of 20 years, Jean L. Day, who survives.
He was a member of Lairdsville Faith Church. Donald was a "Jack of All Trades, Master of None," in his words. Through the years he was known for his body work but he had also sold used furniture and appliances, collected scrap metal, bought and sold cars and would help anyone do anything. He was part of the breakfast groups at Kathy's Cafe and May's Restaurant, loved playing guitar and banjo and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Donald is survived by four daughters, Tammy Smith, of Middletown, Nancy (Clinton) Farver, of Muncy, Lisa (Edward III) Little, of Hughesville and Spc. Martha Herriman, of Hughesville; six grandchildren, Gerald, Travis, Mindy, Edward IV, Alexis and Donovan; two great-grandchildren, Airabella and Hazel; and a sister, Althea Robbins, of Picture Rocks.
Donald was preceded in death by a son, Artie Herriman and a brother, Carl Herriman.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday in the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville, by Rev. Max Walters Jr. The interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Unityville. The family will receive friends in the funeral home Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m.
