The Columbia-Montour Visitors Bureau, as the administrator of the County Commissioners Tourism Fund granting process, has announced the 2014 Request for Funding. The fund is the result of a 3 percent hotel occupancy tax that is levied against hotel guests who overnight in Columbia and Montour counties. Currently, 40 percent of the room tax monies collected is earmarked for the Tourism Fund.
Submitted grant applications must meet the criteria of developing tourism within the region. One of the target audiences for the grant should be visitors outside of Columbia and Montour Counties. Therefore, applicants who solely target the local community will likely be scored to a lesser degree.
Grants may be awarded to qualifying non-profit cultural, historical, governmental or recreational entities within the counties for promotional and publicity initiatives, capital projects or special events.
The 2014 County Commissioner Tourism Fund grants will be available only to organizations based in Montour County and-or having events being held in Montour County.
