Terri Lynn Brown, 41, of Barbours, passed away Monday, Oct. 7, 2013, at her residence. She was born March 30, 1972, in Tunkhannock, a daughter of Robert and Marcille Boecker McCarty.
Terri was raised in Mehoopany, Pa. and attended Tunkhannock High School where she graduated in 1990, and then attended McCains Business School in Pittsburgh. She waitressed for a while before working for Shadowbrook Resort, and then began working at Wal-Mart when it opened in Tunkhannock in 1994, and continued working for Wal-Mart for the last 20 years.
Terri spent many weekends with her grandparents in Forksville and while at a Memorial Day party in 1994 she met Fred Brown while he was on leave from the Air Force, and were married about 15 months later, all the Browns where ecstatic about the marriage. Among Terri's many terrific abilities and attributes, not only did she do a great job keeping Fred busy and out of trouble, she also gave the Brown's a thin member of the family.
Terri knew how to enjoy life. She loved her quiet time reading books and being with her puppy dogs, Zoe and Missy. She also loved spending time with loud and energetic nieces and nephews. She had a fondness for Terri Redlin paintings; they reminded her of the peaceful beauty of the outdoors and the cozy nights spent with her family, which was very important to her.
Terri was always a very direct person but in a nice way. This is a talent not many can pull off. She was also a very strong person, battling cancer for six years, never complaining, just fighting and moving forward. Terri was one to put others first, even in the end her first thought was of others. She worried about Fred not getting enough to eat or her mom not driving alone or if the dogs got out for their walks. It's just like Terri to even put the dogs before herself.
Terri had a tough time for the last six years battling cancer, but in the end she went out of this world peacefully, knowing she was loved. She was predeceased by her grandparents, several aunts and uncles, and also by her sister-in-law.
Terri is survived by her parents; her husband, Fred; brother, Bobby (D.J.) McCarty; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws.
The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013, at the Forksville United Methodist Church, Rt. 154, Forksville, with the Rev. Linda Renninger officiating. Interment will follow in the Forksville Cemetery. Friends will be received on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Spitler Funeral Home, 733 Broad St., Montoursville.
