The city finance committee Wednesday gave a positive recommendation to fund the final stage of the River Valley Transit's compressed natural gas fueling station project at 1500 W. Third St.
It includes relocation of the recycling center west from the site to a larger and updated location and building a salt shed.
The project budget is $750,000 and the funding sources are:
A $450,000 bond issue;
A savings from health insurance of $50,000;
A contribution from natural gas impact fees of $100,000;
A contribution of $50,000 in the 2013 budget; and
Another bond and budget contribution of $100,000.
In addition, the committee offered a positive recommendation to provide the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals with $3,000 toward its spaying and neutering program availability for those who qualify financially under a low-income category.
The issues are expected to be addressed at the City Council meeting tonight.
