The Canton Warriors scored five unanswered touchdowns in the first half alone on their way to mauling the Cowanesque Valley Indians 42-24, in the Canton homecoming football game Friday night.
Canton's first drive saw its offense clicking on all cylinders, as it used a balanced offensive attack to march 60 yards, capped off with Tim Bassett scoring from four yards out. Bassett finished the game with 50 yards rushing on 10 carries, 59 yards receiving on 2 receptions and scored 4 total touchdowns.
After forcing a three-and-out, the Warriors again used different weapons to mount a long drive before Tyler Cole scored on a three-yard dive. Cole finished the game with 58 yards rushing on nine carries and one touchdown.
Lewisburg 28, Central Col. 6
At Lewisburg, Drew Newcomb ran 13 times for 86 yards and scored the game's first touchdown as Lewisburg beat Central Columbia.
Lewisburg intercepted Central Columbia quarterback Steve Shannon 3 times.
Troy 43, North Penn 16
At Blossburg, Troy scored 35 first-half points in a 43-16 victory over North Penn. Chad Wright started the scoring with a 56-yard run and Ross Sherman scored twice in the first half.
Devin Remley caught a 54-yard touchdown pass and Dayton Wood returned a fumble 32 yards for North Penn's scoring. North Penn lost 3 fumbles.
