Ice cream festival
Balls Mills United Methodist Church, 5941 Bloomingrove Road, will hold its fall ice cream festival from 3-6 p.m.
Lecture series concludes
Ancient African Christianity will be the topic of discussion at 7 p.m. as the fall lecture series at Holy Cross Orthodox Church, 1725 Holy Cross Lane in Loyalsock Township, concludes. Presenting "An Unbroken Circle: Linking Ancient African Christianity to the African-American Experience" will be nationally known speaker Father Moses Berry, of Ash Grove, Mo. A priest of the Orthodox Church in America, Berry, also the founder of the Brotherhood of St. Moses the Black, has spoken widely throughout the U.S. on African-American Christianity and spirituality, and has appeared on ABC's "Good Morning America" and the National Geographic Channel. The free public lecture will be held in the church sanctuary off Northway Road. A free-will offering will be received. Pork and sauerkraut dinner
JERSEY SHORE - St. Luke Lutheran Church, 120 Kendall Ave., will hold its 46th annual pork and sauerkraut dinner with lunch available from 11:30 a.m.-3 p.m. and dinner from 4-7 p.m. Takeouts available all day. Lasagna dinner set
Trinity Episcopal Church, 844 W. Fourth St., will hold a lasagna dinner from 4:30-7 p.m. Take-outs are available. Cost for lasagna is $8.50 for adults, $5 for children (12 and younger) and $6 for a lasagna slab.
PENNSDALE - Trinity United Methodist Church, 658 Village Road, will hold an all-you-can-eat buffet catered by Springman's Country Store, of Pennsdale, from 4-7 p.m. The menu includes homemade chicken and gravy and homemade roast pork and gravy. Tickets cost $10 for adults, $5 for children (ages 5-10), and free for children under 5 years. Takeouts are available and cost $10 each.
Parents workshop registration deadline
Registration deadline is today as Messiah Lutheran Church, 324 S. Howard St. in South Williamsport, will hold a free workshop for parents from 5-7:30 p.m. Oct. 26. Presented by Leif Kehrwald, of Vibrant Faith Ministries, parents will learn practical, doable ways to pray, celebrate, reconcile, serve as a family and discover new ways to nurture children's and teens' faith growth. Montoursville Presbyterian Church, 900 Elm St., will feed retirees for free at noon. Free-will donations accepted. Future lunch dates this year are Nov. 22 and Dec 27.
Daniel's Closet open
Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1101 Washington Blvd., will open Daniel's Closet from 9-11 a.m. featuring free clothing ministry for children, women and men. Donations of clean, seasonal (no summer items) will be accepted at the church from 5-6 p.m. on Oct. 24. Please use stairwell on Washington Boulevard.
Free thrift shop
WELLSBORO - Draper Baptist Church will hold a free thrift shop from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. A free brunch also will be held from 10 a.m.-noon. in the multi-purpose room. Featured is slightly used fall and winter clothing, and a few spring and summer clothing articles may be available. Items will be suitable for men, women, teens and children of all ages. Draper Baptist Church is eight miles south of Wellsboro on Kelsey Street and Stony Fork Road.

ROSEVILLE - Roseville United Methodist Church, 4118 Route 549, will hold a ham supper fro 3-6:30 p.m. to benefit ministries of the church.
First United Methodist Church, 601 Market St., will hold a family style turkey dinner in the Christian Life Center from 3:30-6:30 p.m. featuring turkey. Cost is $8.50 for adults, $4.50 for children 6-10 and free for those 5 and under. Takeouts available for $8.50.
Third Street United Methodist Church, 931 E. Third St., will hold a lasagna dinner from 4-7 p.m. Cost is $9 for adults, $5 for children ages 6-12 and free for those under 5. Parking is in the rear of the church.
Trunk 'r treat
First Southern Baptist Church, 89 Kimble Hill Road in Loyalsock Township, will hold a trunk 'r treat from 4-8 p.m. Children can wear their Halloween costumes, go from decorated car trunk to car trunk, and collect goodies at a safe alternative to trick-or-treating that is free. Activities include a bounce house for the children, carnival games, football games starting at 3 p.m. and a potluck meal.
PICTURE ROCKS - Picture Rocks United Methodist Church will host an auction at 5:30 p.m. Items to be auctioned include craft items and baked goods. Food will be available.
All Hallows Eve service
MONTGOMERY - The youth group at St. John Lutheran "Brick" Church, Route 405, will hold an all hallow's eve church service at 7 p.m. The service will start in the church parking lot and then proceed to the cemetery next door to continue the service. (Please note that this is a church service)
