Jane Park Beachem, 87, of Stoystown and formerly of South Williamsport, died Sunday, Oct. 20, 2013.
Born April 12, 1926, in Masten, Lycoming County, she was a daughter of the late Donald H. and Mabel M. Horn Park. Her husband of 63 years, Albert E. Beachem, preceded her in death on Nov. 9, 2009.
Jane was a graduate of Davidson Township High School, Class of 1943, and attended Penn State University. She was employed at the former Krim Toys, Williamsport for over 15 years and volunteered for over 38 years at the Williamsport Regional Medical Center, primarily in the hospital gift shop. In 2013, Jane was recognized by the hospital for volunteering over 19,000 hours. She served as president of the hospital auxiliary several times and held state-wide offices for the Pennsylvania Association of Hospital Auxiliaries.
Jane was a faithful church attendee and very active in the life of the church. She was currently a member of Kanter United Methodist Church and a former member of South Williamsport United Methodist Church, Huntersville United Methodist Church and Linden United Methodist Church.
Playing bridge was a favorite past time of Jane's. She also enjoyed working on jigsaw puzzles and loved completing the daily newspaper crossword puzzle.
Surviving are a son, D. Thomas (Trudy) Beachem of Columbus, Ohio; two daughters, JoAnn (David) Funa, of McMurray and Debra (Dennis) Zimmerman, of Stoystown; three sisters, Doris Roby, of Sayre, Gwen Klus, of Laporte and Ruth Hild, of Eagles Mere; a brother, Raymond Park, of Waco, Texas; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Jane was preceded in death by a son, John Beachem; two brothers, Jerald Park and Hugh Park; and two sisters, Ann Hessert and Judy Park.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville, with the Rev. Rob Ransom officiating. Burial will follow in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
