Jean L. Moon, 76 of Elkland, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2013, at her home. Born April 27, 1937, in Elkland, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Aletha (VanHorn) Dornsife.
Jean was a member of the Knoxville VFW Ladies Auxiliary for many years and a member of the Free Methodist Church in Elkland. She loved to play bingo, crochet, and yard sales and was always full of life.
She is survived by her sons, Howard, of Elkland, Kevin, of Blairsville, Edward Sr., of Elkland, and John Moon, of Willow Grove; her daughters, Debra Mitchell, of Nelson and April Lower-Knickerbocker, of Elkland; her two brothers, Raymond and Peggy Dornsife, of Columbus, Ohio and Wayne and Helen, of Randolph, N.Y.; a sister-in-law, Lyn Dornsife of Medford, Ore.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her companion, Henry Culina; her son, Charles Moon and a brother, Melvin Dornsife.
A memorial service will be held at the New Fellowship Ministries/Free Methodist Church, 102 Coates Ave., Elkland, on Saturday, 11 a.m. with Pastor Marty Zdrojewski officiating.
