United Churches Wednesday noon ecumenical lunches are held each week of the school year at Pine Street United Methodist Church, 441 Pine St. On Wednesday, Jeffrey Mensendiek, director of the Student Center for the Board of Global Ministries for The Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, and the United Church of Christ, who is stationed in Sendai, Japan, will talk about his ministry to students, families and the community since the tsunami and nuclear meltdown. A serving of a catered $6 lunch begins at 11:45 a.m. in the church fellowship hall. Free parking is available in the lot north of the church. Although reservations are not needed, those not regular attendees should call United Churches at 322-1110 to help the caterer know how many to prepare for.
