WELLSBORO - A 25-year-old man who allegedly posted several threats of violence against schools and children on his Facebook account was charged Friday with making terroristic threats and disorderly conduct, according to state police at Mansfield.
Michael Paul Peditto allegedly sent the messages from Wednesday through Friday, according to Cpl. Christopher Wheeler.
Among the threats was the following statement, "I'm going to start out terrorizing the human race on Facebook. If the humans continue to ignore me here on Facebook I am going to have to go on and terrorize other things."
Peditto posted how he bought a gun and wanted to kill kids and burn houses down.
The statements were thought by school administrators, children and parents in the community to be threats that were unsettling and disruptive to the educational process, Wheeler said.
Three schools districts within Tioga County adjusted their schedules and the threats led some students to remain at home out of the fear of potential violence at their schools, according to the trooper.
Peditto was taken into custody at his home in Delmar Township by state police and arraigned before District Judge Robert Repard who placed him in the Tioga County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bail.
A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Nov. 19, police said.
