Robert E. Leutze, 79, of Montoursville, passed away peacefully Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013, at the Valley View Nursing Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born Dec. 22, 1933, in Williamsport, a son of George F. and Mary Sadler Leutze.
Bob Graduated from Williamsport High School in 1951 and served in the Army Corp of Engineers from 1953 to 1955. He traveled throughout the mid-West serving with the California U.S. Forest Service the summer of 1957. Bob graduated from Lycoming College in 1959. He served as the Assistant District Traffic Engineer for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, retiring after 30 years of service.
He was a member of the John F. Laedlein Lodge No. 707 F&AM and the Williamsport Consistory. He was a charter member of the Outsiders Rod & Gun Club, always looking forward to hunting season and his weekends at the cabin.
Bob was a leather crafter who generously shared his talents. He enjoyed stargazing and the beauty of the night sky. He had a nickname for everyone, appreciated music, and had a love for the outdoors that he passed on to his beloved granddaughters. Bob's simple saying of, "Better days are coming" encouraged and comforted many.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, V. Louise, of Montoursville; two daughters, Karin L. (Daniel) Waugh, of Pennsdale, and Laurie A. (William) Miller of Muncy; a sister, Audrey Dochter, of Montoursville; and twin grandchildren, Rachael and Elizabeth Waugh; numerous nieces and nephews, and brothers-and-sisters-in law.
The funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 25, 2013, at Spitler Funeral Home, 733 Broad St., Montoursville. Interment will follow in Montoursville Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m.
