Nile E. Kepner, 90, of Hughesville, passed away Nov. 27, 2013, at the Muncy Valley Hospital, Skilled Nursing Unit. He was born March 6, 1923, a son of Valentine and Edith (Reed) Kepner, on the family farm, where he lived until recently. On June 19, 1948, he married Lois Poust, who survives.
He was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church and graduated from Hughesville High School, Class of 1942. He farmed the family farm until 1973, when he went to work for Susquehanna Supply, driving cement truck for many years. He enjoyed attending the Huntersville Senior Citizens.
In addition to his wife of 65 years, he is survived by three daughters, Elva Joy (Ira) Pitel, Flemington, N.J., Merna (Joseph) Opetosky, Horse Heads, N.Y. and Marie (Gregory) Keefer, Beaver Dams, N.Y.; eight grandchildren, Brooke, Grant, Adam, Jill, Joseph, Holli, Cassandra and Matthew; and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Kepner.
Graveside services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Hughesville, by Rev. Isaac L. Wilson. Expressions of sympathy can be sent to the family at www.mccartythomas.com.
