Lloyd Allen Weitzel, 89, died peacefully in his sleep at the Gino J. Merli Veteran's Center in Scranton Nov. 22, 2013.
Lloyd was born in Williamsport and was the son of the late Richard and Eva Regina (Roller) Weitzel.
Lloyd is survived by his wife, Ann M. (Luxenberger) Weitzel; two sons, Daniel, husband of Debbie, Boca Raton, Fla., Nelson, companion of Rita Marzacco; three daughters, Denise, wife of Leon Beck, Havre de Grace, Md., Lisbeth Schreiber, companion of Darrel Boyer, Mohrsville, and Linda, wife of Thomas Levering, Williamsport; two daughters from a previous marriage, Dorothy, wife of Thomas Jordan, Lynn, Mass., Diane, wife of Thomas Philbrook, Altamonte Springs, Fla.; 17 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Lloyd graduated from Williamsport Area High School and owned and operated Lloyd A. Weitzel Garage until his retirement. Lloyd served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Lloyd was also awarded two Bronze stars for his actions in World War II.
Services and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
