The county's DUI Task Force and state police were quite busy during the Thanksgiving holiday getting alleged drunk drivers off the road, according to William Solomon, task force coordinator.
Sixteen motorists were charged with driving under the influence of intoxicants, 11 of them alone on Nov. 27, Solomon said.
Officers and state troopers conducted "roving patrols" throughout the county, stopping 66 drivers, administering sobriety tests to 18 of them, Solomon said.
When blood-alcohol content test results are completed, police will file the appropriate charges at a district judge's office, Solomon said.
Police will increase DUI enforcement patrols throughout the holiday season this month, Solomon said.
