Roy Howard Stoner, 84, of Wellsville and formerly of Williamsport, died on Dec. 5, 2013 at Claremont Nursing and Rehab Center in Carlisle.
He was born Feb. 10, 1929 in Williamsport, the son of Howard and Lucretia Bryan Stoner.
Roy retired as a truck driver for Stroehman Bros., was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army and was one of the soldiers who drove Gen. Dwight Eisenhower, was a member of the VFW in Dillsburg, and was an avid hunter.
Surviving are two sons, Jeff (Louann) Stoner of Wellsville and Royce Stoner of Gettysburg; three brothers, Richard (Sandy) Stoner of Montoursville, Ben (Katie) Stoner of Loyalsock Twp., and Guy (Sandy) Stoner of Richmond, Va.; two sisters, Jane Daily of Waterstown, NY and Joyce Stoner of Cascade Twp.; three grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, at Spitler Funeral Home, 733 Broad St., Montoursville with Rev. Louis H. Gatti officiating. Burial will follow in Hillsgrove Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 1-2 p.m.
