James (Jim) W. Blair, Ed.D., 75, of Trout Run, died on Dec. 6, 2013, at the Williamsport Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family.
The son of Theron E. and Myrtle E. Murphy Blair, Jim was a 1956 graduate of South Williamsport Junior Senior High School. He went on to earn a bachelor's degree from Bloomsburg State Teachers College (1960), a master's of education degree (1963) and a doctor of education degree in curriculum and instruction (1974) from Penn State University.
A life-long educator Jim began his career as a science teacher for the State College Area School District. He later served as assistant principal at Bald Eagle Area High School before becoming a curriculum development coordinator for the PA Department of Education. In retirement, Jim was an associate professor of education at Lycoming College.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, the former A. Louise Holmes; two daughters, Becky (Ann) Blair, of Raleigh, N.C. and Laurie (Ray) Dively of Harrisburg; his brother, Kenneth (Dona) Blair, of Trout Run; his sister, Shirley (Robert) Buckbee, of Mechanicsburg; and four grandsons, Patrick, Jeffrey, Ethan, and Colin.
In honor of Jim's request, there will be no services.
Arrangements are being handled by Spitler Funeral Home, Montoursville.
