Eugene R. Henley, 89, of 1410 Bloomingrove Road, Williamsport, died Dec. 5, 2013 in the Williamsport Regional Medical Center.
Eugene was born in Mildred, Pa., on Nov. 19, 1924, the son of Robert and Anna Broschart Henley. He was a roofing and siding contractor and installed the first aluminum siding in Williamsport.
Eugene was a veteran of World War II, serving as a sergeant in the Philippines. He was a life time member of of the V.F.W. Post 7863 and also a member of V.F.W. Post 617.
He is survived by his wife, the former Rosemary Weller. Eugene and Rosemary celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this past July of 2013.
His children survive him; Deborah (Marvin) Mann, of Pennsdale, Cathy Henley, of this city, Guy Henley, of Trout Run, Susan Shaffer, of this city, Russell Henley, of Montoursville, and Joyce (Phil) Reed, of Williamsport. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Beverly Demmien, of this city and Ruth Crawford, of Avis. Eugene was preceded in death by a grandchild.
Burial will be in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery. Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Crouse Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
