Vera Margaret Welshans, 94, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2013, at Kramm's Health Center, Milton.
She was born April 9, 1919, in Newberry, daughter of the late Charles and Addie Lyons Smith. She was married to Paul V. Welshans June 5, 1937 at Grace Lutheran Church, Jersey Shore, who passed away in 1999.
She was a member of the St. James Lutheran Church in Rauchtown. She attended the Jersey Shore School system and was later a devoted homemaker.
She is survived by two sons, Charles A. Welshans (Jean), of Clio, Ala., and Ron Robbins (Judith) of Milton, and one daughter, Sharon E. Shoemaker (widow of William T. Shoemaker-2003), of Eden, N.C.; sister-in-laws Laura Walker Smith, of N.Y., and Trudy Welshans Burt (Robert), of Calif. She is further survived by grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, step grandchildren, step great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a son, Neil F. Welshans, in 2004, a brother, Warren T. Smith, in 1983, and a nephew, Warren T. Smith, in 2007.
Vera will be remembered fondly by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends of which she had many.
In keeping with Vera's wishes her services and interment will be at a later date at her family's convenience.
