Raymond E. Heaton, 86, of Avis, died Friday, Dec. 13, 2013, at his home.
Born Sep. 11, 1927, in Flemington, he was a son to the late John H. and Pearl L. (Hallett) Heaton.
He honorably served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Raymond worked for Piper Aircraft in Lock Haven for many years until its closing.
He is survived by his wife, the former Vivian Greninger. They were married Aug. 13, 1948, in Lock Haven. Also surviving are six children, Paul (Betsy) Heaton, of Montoursville, Susan Sullenberger, of Muncy, Karen Heaton, of Independence, Mo., Mark Heaton, of Avis, James (Jolie) Heaton, of Avis, and Judith (John) Herr, of Avis; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ruth Myers, of Mill Hall.
He was preceded in death by five siblings, John Heaton, Edith DeGarmo, Harold Heaton, Melvin Heaton, and Grace Smith.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013, at Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 N. Main St., Jersey Shore, with The Rev. Jeffrey Howell officiating. Visitation will be held 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home.
Burial will be at Jersey Shore Cemetery with full military honors accorded by the Jersey Shore Honor Guard.
