Mr. Herman Albert Kreger, 101, of DuBoistown, passed away peacefully on Friday, Dec. 13, 2013, while recuperating at the Sycamore Manor Health Center, Montoursville.
Herman was born Feb. 29, 1912, at Balls Mills, Lycoming County, the son of the late Albert James and Ethel (Ferguson) Kreger.
Mr. Kreger had been employed at the former Trimtex Company of Williamsport. He retired as an assistant foreman.
Mr. Kreger was a U.S. Army veteran who served his country with honor in World War II. He was awarded the Eastern Theatre of Operations Medal and the Military Order of the Purple Heart.
Mr. Kreger maintained memberships in the Williamsport Purple Heart Club and the Howard W. Kahler Post No. 844 Veterans of Foreign Wars at Williamsport. He had formerly served as a chaplain for the post.
Mr. Kreger was a member of the Williamsport Seventh day Adventist Church and had been a former treasurer of the church.
Both Mr. Kreger and his wife, Kathryn enjoyed traveling together.
Surviving are his wife, the former Kathryn Ertel Kreger. He and his wife were married on April 7, 1966. Together they have shared 47 years of marriage. Mr. Kreger is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Herman was preceded in death by his sister, Phoebe, and his brothers, William, Max, and Samuel.
Memorial services for Mr. Herman Kreger will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, Dec. 20, 2013, at the Charles M. Noll Funeral Home. His pastor, Rev. Anthony Crawford will officiate. There will be no visitation. Interment will be private at Montoursville Cemetery. The family desires to not receive floral tributes.
