Is this the world we want to live in?
Recently I traveled to a large chain hunting and fishing store. It was so nice to see a cro-magnon man wearing his semi automatic hand gun on his hip among hundreds of Christmas shoppers.
I asked store personnel if this was acceptable? Yes, it is.
The Commonwealth allows those who own guns with hunting/carry permits to do so. Just keep it in the open. Personal protection permits allow concealment.
Now, I have grown up around guns and hunting my whole life and by choice and physical issues have chosen other outdoor activities. I have no problem with loving firearms, but there is a proper time and place. When owning pistols I had protection permits just because the gun may be in my trunk or glove compartment while in transit.
I never thought it was cool or what ever, to enter a business with a gun on my hip. What are people who do this thinking?
The National Rifle Association and our gun lovers society have a hard enough time with bad press let alone having this type display take place.
It has certainly been my intent to limit my comments to the editorial section to avoid being a complainer, but this is an event I could not pass up.
Carrying your pistol into a market or clothing store does nothing for me but demonstrate inconsideration for others, a lack of proper gun safety, possible indication of big shot syndrome, and your level of intelligence. Really sad!
