Frederick J. Kranz, 71, died Sunday, Dec. 29, 2013, at the Williamsport Regional Medical Center.
Fred was born in Williamsport on May 28, 1942, a son of William A. and Helen F. Rook Kranz.
He was a member of St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus Council 366, the Sons of Italy Lodge 2786, and the Gesang Verein Harmonia. He served in the Army National Guard and was a member of American Legion Post No. 1.
His many business ventures include financial and insurance advisor at the former Larry Herron auto dealer and a loan officer and underwriter at Keystone Financial from 1995 until his retirement in 1999.
Fred enjoyed traveling, playing Keno and singing in the choir at church and the Harmonia.
Surviving are his longtime companion and wife, the former Deborah M. Myers; daughter, Susan M. Lyons, of Lewisburg; sons, Thomas A., of Baltimore, Md., John F., of Williamsport and G. Stephen Kranz, of Hughesville; eight grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and siblings, Robert, of Williamsport, Lloyd, of Vermont, Ann Ziegler, of Allenwood and David, of Cogan Station.
The family will receive family and friends at the Crouse Funeral Home, 133 E. Third St., from 8 to 9 a.m. Friday.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:30 a.m. Friday at St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church, 800 W. Central Ave., South Williamsport, with the Rev. David Bechtel officiating followed by burial at Resurrection Cemetery in Montoursville.
