Edward A. Bower Sr., 82, of Elkland, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014, at the Williamsport Regional Medical Center.
He was born June 4, 1931, in Grassflat, Pa., the son of Wilbur D. and Mary M. (Hasko) Bower.
Edward was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving during the Korean War.
He was a self-employed drywall contractor and was known as the "Drywall King" by his drywall competitors, then went home to be with the King of All Kings.
Edward was a true humanitarian, helping his neighbors and friends without asking for anything in return. He was a true giver, not a taker.
He is survived by five sons, Wilbur Bower, James Bower, Kenneth Bower, Jason (Tabitha) Bower, Michael (Cheryl) Bower; two daughters, Carol Brown and Kathleen (Guy) Shaffer; a sister, Marion Butler; 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren; also a special friend Sharon Pringle.
Edward was predeceased by a son, Edward A. Bower, Jr. and a daughter, Nichole Phillips-Post and the mother of his children, Donna L. Bower.
Relatives and friends are invited to Edward's Life Celebration service 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 6, 2014, at the James C. Maneval Funeral Home, Ltd. "A Life Celebration Home" 500 W. Fourth St. A visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Twin Hills Memorial Park.
