Robert John Kamus, 60, of Jersey Shore, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014, at Jersey Shore Hospital.
Bob was born on Oct. 14, 1953, in Warren, to Margorie and the late Frank Kamus. He was preceded in death by his sister, Susan McCanna.
He graduated from Jersey Shore High School in 1972. Following graduation, he joined the U.S. Army. He was trained in the airborne forces and was also an atomic bomb demolition specialist and combat engineer. Bob was discharged in 1978 after being stationed in Korea. When he came home he married his wife, Patricia Cryder-Kamus, on March 14, 1981, at St. John's Lutheran Church.
Bob went to college and graduated with an associates degree of carpentry from Pennsylvania College of Technology in 1985.
Bob was an incredible craftsman. He could build anything and proof of his work can be seen in homes around Jersey Shore today.
He was a tremendous outdoorsman who lived to hunt, fish and camp with his family. Bob loved the beauty of nature and never took it for granted.
He had many careers throughout his life. Being a father and grandfather was his greatest joy. He taught his children to live their lives with love, adventure and independence. His children will never forget the father he was. To anyone who knew Bob, it was obvious that family came first.
He is survived by his wife, Pat, and their two children, Eric Kamus and Vanessa Kamus-Ruckle (Ryan Ruckle). He also has two grandchildren, Harlow Ruckle and Trae Devlin. Bob will also be greatly missed by his most loyal friend, his dog, Raven.
Services will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church, Jersey Shore, with date and time to be announced at a later date.
