Richard A. Caschera Sr., 76, of Cumru Township, passed away at The Reading Hospital and Medical Center on Jan. 21, 2014.
Born in Williamsport, he was the son of the late Remo R. Caschera Sr. and Mary L. (Pagana) Caschera, and the stepson of the late Catherine (Fogarty) Caschera.
Mr. Caschera was a graduate of St. Joseph's High School in Williamsport, and later attended courses at Lycoming College. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving his country for three years.
Richard was employed as a hard lines manager at Sears-Roebuck in Reading. He then transferred to Sears-Roebuck in Williamsport to be an auto center manager, where he worked until he retired after 25 years with the company. He then went to work for UGI as a residential marketing representative, a title he held for 23 years until his retirement. For many years, Richard was a salesman for Phillip's Furniture in Birdsboro.
Mr. Caschera was predeceased by his brother, Steven Caschera.
Survivors include his wife, Eileen Gehrke Caschera, of Cumru Township; children Leonard Caschera, of Reading, Richard A. Caschera Jr. (Susan), of Williamsport, AnnMarie Mariano (Richard), of Easton, and John Lubas (Tracey), of Connecticut; grandchildren Richard A. Caschera III, Anastasia and Danielle Garzillo, Alaina Mariano, and Alec and Mady Lubas; brothers Remo R. Caschera Jr. (Josephine), of Pittsburgh and Dan Caschera (Rosemarie), of Ohio; sister Shelia Caschera, of Pocono Mountains; stepbrother Joseph Pagana; and sister-in-laws Barbara Zern (Kenneth), of Pottstown, and Sandy Fister, widow of the late Robert Fister.
Services will be at the convenience of the family.
