Richard T. Shebest, 84, of Williamsport, died Friday, Jan. 24, 2014, at The Gatehouse of Divine Providence Hospital.
Born March 22, 1929, in Williamsport, he was a son of Michael and Louise (Kaiser) Shebest.
He was a 1947 graduate of Williamsport High School and had attended Williamsport Technical Institute. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Dick retired after 35 years from E. Keeler Company as the manager of aftermarket sales. He loved golfing and was a member of White Deer Golf Course since 1965. He enjoyed traveling, especially to Florida, and was so proud of his family he inherited from his second marriage.
Surviving are his wife, Gloria J. (Anastasia) Peters Shebest, who he married in 2006; four step-children, Jan Kirby (Dan), of South Williamsport, Christie Miller (Doc), of Williamsport, Jon J. Peters (Patti), of Hershey, and Andrew Peters, of South Williamsport; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Gerald Shebest, of Milford, Del.; two sisters, Bernadine Bachman and Charlotte Trayer, both of Williamsport; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Florence T. "Tossie" (Roskowski) Shebest, on Sept. 19, 2005; a sister Gloria Plymette; and two brothers, Joseph and Leonard Shebest.
A memorial mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph the Worker Parish , 702 W. Fourth St., Williamsport. Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery.
