Driving his mobile food van throughout the area has made Chef Richard Hosch a conspicuous figure.
Now, in addition to bringing his delectable delights to the people, he's set up a more permanent base for customers.
In December, he opened The Tower Cafe.
Located at 1000 Commerce Drive, Suite 107, Loyalsock Township, the cafe serves weekday lunches.
Hosch will continue with his mobile kitchen, parking at events and various spots during the warmer weather months.
"We thought it would be a good opportunity to keep doing that and do more here," explained Jackson Howard, Hosch's son and manager of the Tower Cafe. "We want to have fun and create unique, eclectic items."
Hosch said he now has a good-sized kitchen to help him better prepare for big catering events, which are a major part of his business.
"We will be doing a lot of events," he said.
In the meantime, he feels he's tapping into a good market at Water Tower Square where he estimated some 800 people work.
The cafe seats about 75 people.
There's also an outdoor dining area, and a board room just off the main dining area seating up to 20 people, which is available for various functions.
"We are really excited," Howard said.
The menu includes sandwiches, quesadillas, soups, cookies and breads, and other food items.
Customers also can take advantage of the salad bar.
"We are passionate about cooking high quality food," Howard said.
Customers favorites include the deli trays and the smoked meats.
Hosch was not really looking to open a cafe, but is happy about his decision to go for it.
"I think our visibility in the community will increase with a brick and mortar place," he said.
Hosch likes the location and the ample parking at Water Tower Square.
"It's handicapped accessible," he added.
Cafe hours are 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday to Friday.
The phone numbers are 570-850-9843 and 570-809-1037.
