The number of self-published books produced annually in the U.S. has nearly tripled, growing 287 percent since 2006, and now tallies more than 235,000 print and "e" titles, according to a new analysis of data from Bowker Books In Print and Bowker Identifier Services.
What is self-publishing and how can it benefit you? At 6 p.m. on Feb. 28, media expert Jerry Frear will present "A Guide to Self- Publishing and Marketing Your Book," which will explain the facets of self-publishing and using social media for promotion.
The presentation will cover such topics as publishing with createspace.com, Kindle Direct Publish, Nook, Google Play and Smashwords and using social media to promote your book.
"This program is just one way the library champions the love of reading and opens new doors to lifelong learning in our community," said Shawn Newcomer, adult programming coordinator. "Jerry Frear has volunteered his time for the past year to offer popular programs for free to local residents."
The presentation will be held in the Lowry Room on the third floor of the Welch Family wing at the James V. Brown Library, 19 E. Fourth St. Registration is suggested but not required.
