If you are doing something that is unlawful, you should fear the police, otherwise go about your daily routine, you have nothing to be fearful of. Our police do an excellent job looking out for all of us, according to the Sun-Gazette, they are kept quite busy. I don't know Officer Deprenda, however I can only imagine the hell he is going through, along with the family of the man who lost his life in a tragic accident.
The newspaper reported Officer Deprenda was on his way to assist a fellow rookie officer who encountered a drug dealer with 12 bags of heroin, perhaps intended for distribution to someone's child. Bad judgment and traveling so fast resulted in two lives being changed forever. This is a very bad time; how many times have we not used out best judgment resulting in a negative result. When an officer leaves his home to start his shift, I imagine he never thinks that the mission he is involved with will end in tragedy.
I use the word imagine because I can only just do that. Letters to the editor published a man's opinion who stated he has no respect for law enforcement and the secrets they keep; why, I ask, would someone want to know exactly what occurred. Every policeman I have encountered was a gentlemen and very pleasant. Tim Miller is most impressive.
I see our police patrol the street by my home looking for anything and everything and I am most grateful. You are very welcome to patrol my neighborhood at any time and don't forget to come back.
If ever there is a possibility of trouble around me, send a cop fast!
