Locally elected and appointed officials voted on the following matters in the past week:
The Senate voted 55-43 to concur on a House amendment to temporarily extend the public debt limit. The bill goes to President Barack Obama to sign. U.S. Sen. Bob Casey, D-Scranton, voted in favor, while U.S. Sen. Pat Toomey, R-Zionsville, voted against.
The Legislature was out of session.
Lycoming County commissioners voted 3-0 to seek a $150,000 state grant for a day reporting center. Jeff Wheeland, Tony Mussare and Ernie Larson voted "yes."
Lycoming County Prison Board approved Lycoming County Prison expenses and revenues for January: $37,087 for health services and supplies; $29,371 for kitchen supplies and food; $103,244 for general services, supplies and maintenance; and $26,893 in revenue. The board also approved the pre-release center's expenses and revenues for January: $10,586 for health services and medical supplies; $18,632 for kitchen supplies and food; $9,023 for general services, supplies and maintenance; and $9,146 in revenue. Voting in favor were county Commissioners Jeff Wheeland, Ernie Larson and Tony Mussare, Warden Kevin DeParlos, Sheriff Mark Lusk and county Controller Krista Rogers. County President Judge Nancy Butts and District Attorney Eric Linhardt were absent.
Loyalsock Township supervisors voted 4-1 to approve construction of a 120-foot cell tower in Heshbon Park. Chairwoman Virginia Eaton voted against the measure. Voting in favor were board members Marc Sortman, Paul Nyman, Rick Wheeland and John Bower Jr.
Williamsport Municipal Airport Authority unanimously approved an agreement with L. Robert Kimball to design new runway approach towers. Voting in favor were Christopher Logue, Atwood Welker, William Martin, Rebecca Burke and Frank Pellegrino. T. Michael Hughes and Ryan Tira were absent.
City Recreation Commission voted 3-0 to approve a list of events for the year, including a New Year's Eve event. Voting in favor were Rodney Morgans, Carmella Preziosi, and Becky Lundy.
The Jersey Shore Area School Board voted 8-0 to approve the National Social Studies Honor Society at Jersey Shore High School. Voting yes were Robert Pryor, Craig Allen, Karen Stover, Denise Smith, Harry Miller, Loren Koch, David Hines and Kelly Watson. Heather Williamson was absent.
Montoursville Area School Board hired Victor Gorini as girls varsity head soccer coach at a salary of $3,200 and as junior high girls soccer coach at a salary of $1,900. Voting in favor were James Bergen, Thomas McNamara, Dale Ulmer, George Hagemeyer, Jennifer Marriott, Scott Konkle and Jeff Schans.
Loyalsock Township School Board voted 8-0 to spend $11,225 to paint the new site for the District Service Center at 1605 Four Mile Drive. Voting yes were Edward Ade Jr., Maureen Carey, William Carlucci, Stephen Dewar, David Hornberger, John Raymond, Shelia Yates and Paul Young II. Absent from the vote was Christina Kiessling.
