JERSEY SHORE - A 21-year-old man has been charged with theft after finding a chainsaw and attempting to sell it on Craigslist.
Lucas Gregory Costa, of 200 Marion St., allegedly found the chainsaw after it had fallen out of the bed of Thomas Paulhamus' pickup truck.
Paulhamus noticed the chainsaw was missing shortly after it had fallen out and drove around looking for it, but did not find it.
About a week later, Paulhamus contacted Tiadaghton Valley Regional Police and said that he had seen a chainsaw for sale on Craigslist that matched the description of his missing one, according to an affadavit.
Police then contacted Costa under an alias and arranged to buy the chainsaw. When Costa appeared with it, police seized it and found that it matched the serial number given to them by Paulhamus.
Costa waived his preliminary hearing before Judge Jerry C. Lepley on Feb. 19 on charges of theft of property, theft by deception and prohibited offensive weapons. He will be arraigned at the Lycoming County courthouse on March 10.
