Jack D. Hawkins Sr., 85, of South Williamsport, passed away suddenly at his home on Feb. 24, 2014.
Jack was born on June 13, 1928, in Dansville, N.Y. He was the son of the late Andrew and Marie (King) Hawkins.
Jack was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War. Jack was a lifelong member of the Leroy O. Buck VFW Post 7863 in Duboistown. He retired from the Williamsport Post Office in 1991.
He was an avid walker, reader, and sports enthusiast, especially baseball. Jack enjoyed reading about history and had a particular affinity for the American West.
But most of all, Jack loved his family: his wife of 60 years, Jane Mull Hawkins; his son, Jack D. Hawkins, and daughter-in-law, Patty Fila Hawkins, of Jersey Shore; his daughter, Jahna Hawkins, of Palm Springs, Calif.; his grandson, Corey Hawkins, of Williamsport; his granddog, Emma; his grandcat, Neffie; and his great-grand dogs, Latte and Chai. Jack is also survived by his two brothers, William and Donald Hawkins, of New York.
Jack was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters.
Following Jack's wishes, there will be no services or visitation. Since Jack was a 1980 heart by-pass survivor, in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Guthrie Clinic, 1 Guthrie Square, Sayre, PA, 18840.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Charles M. Noll Funeral Home, 1 E. Central Ave., South Williamsport, PA, 17702 www.charlesmnollfuneralhome.com
