Albert "Jake" Person Sr., 71, of 1526 Oregon Hill, Morris, Pa., former Mowry resident, passed away Sunday evening at the Soldiers and Sailors Hospital, Wellsboro, following an automobile accident.
Born in Fountain Springs, March 15, 1943, he was the son of the late Lloyd and Cordelia Kimsel Person. He attended the former Ashland High School and was employed as a machine operator and foreman for Hendron Construction, and most recently as a partial owner in the Sky Sawmill Resort, Morris, until his retirement. Active in community government, he served as a Pine Township supervisor and held the position of the township Road Master.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman, belonging to the Mowry Hunting Club and Arnots Sportsman's Club, both in Tioga County. Jake was a member of the Good Fellowship Club, Ashland, and a life member of the Lavelle Fire Company, Lavelle.
He is survived by a son, Albert Person Jr., of Locust Summit and a brother, Irvin Person and his wife, Peggy, King of Prussia.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service, Saturday, March 15, 2014, noon from the Richard W. Fritz Funeral Home, 1323 Centre St., Ashland. Officiating will be Rev. Dana Heckman Beil, pastor of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Ashland. Interment will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery, Lavelle. A viewing will be held Saturday morning in the funeral home, 10 a.m. until the service.
