Emerson J. Horn, 82, formerly of Nordmont, died Wednesday, March 19, 2014, in Willcox, Arizona.
Born April 23, 1931, in Nordmont, he was a son of the late Roland and Dora Sperry Horn. He and his wife, the former Beatrice Belaire, would have celebrated 11 years of marriage on April 17, 2014.
Emerson was active in various county government positions over the years, which included the Sullivan County Planning Commission, Soil Conservation District, RC&D Council, Northern Tier Solid Waste Authority and township supervisor for Davidson Township for 36 years. He also served as president and sexton of the Cherry Grove cemetery for over 30 years. Emerson enjoyed hunting, traveling and spending time with his family.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of Pembroke, Ontario, Canada, are a son, Andy J. (Evelyn) Horn of Ariz.; two daughters, Debbie A. (Roger) Peterman of Nordmont and Mary L. (David) Beatty of Ariz.; two sisters, Doris Jean Frey of Montoursville and Beulah King of Hughesville; two step-daughters, Diane Kennedy of Quebec, Canada and Linda (Ian) Gould of Pembroke, Ontario, Canada; three grandchildren, Beth Ann Tourscher, Charlene Ledger and Renee Chek; and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Emerson was preceded in death by his first wife of 40 years, Anna M. Emert Horn on November 1, 1995; four brothers; and four sisters.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, March 24, at the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville, with Rev. Max L. Walters Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Cherry Grove Cemetery, Nordmont. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
