George C. Zimmerman, 66, of South Williamsport, died Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at the Gatehouse Hospice.
Born March 26, 1947, in Williamsport, he was the son of Francis X. and Carmen S. (Schroyer) Zimmerman.
George was a 1965 graduate of South Williamsport High School and had worked at the former International Paper (BBA Wovens), Lewisburg, and was a member of the union there. Earlier in life he had worked at Avco Lycoming and the West Company.
He was a member of the Moose Lodge, South Williamsport, and 40 et 8, Williamsport. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing pool.
Surviving are his mother, Carmen S. Zimmerman, with whom he lived and was a primary caregiver to; two brothers, Peter A., of Warrensville, and Frank M., at home; and two sisters, Judy (Lee) Bieber, of Turbotville, and Anne L. Fike, Williamsport.
Preceding him in death besides his father was a niece, Deborah Bennardi, who died Dec. 8, 2009.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 5, at 11 a.m. at the Wildwood Cemetery Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either the American Cancer Society or the Williamsport Moose Lodge.
