April 12 - Eagle Watch, 10:30-11:30 a.m. Eagles again are nesting at the park. The first observed incubating behavior was reported on March 2, so the young may hatch by this weekend.
Federal law prohibits people from approaching within 660 feet of an active nest from Jan. 15 to the time the young leave the nest.
Join the park naturalist at the eagle watch area to learn about the bird of prey and observe eagles in the nest. The eagle watch area is just upstream from the entrance to the boat launch area. The nest is about 800 feet from the viewing area and only slightly elevated.
Binoculars and spotting scopes will be available for use during the scheduled time, and visitors may stay afterward to continue viewing on their own.
