Donna Mae Scarborough, of Montoursville, passed away Thursday morning, April 3, 2014, at peace with her family next to her at her daughter's house in Allentown.
Betts, as she was called by those who knew her best, was born to the late Walter Farley and Lena Irwin, June 27, 1934, in New Columbia. She married the late Benjamin Scarborough on Oct. 5, 1957. They lived together in Montoursville for all of their lives together.
Betts was an insurance agent at the Blessing Insurance Company and a devoted homemaker. She was a skilled dog groomer, which she did part time for many years. She was an active member of her community. She was a long time participant of the Montoursville Garden Club, Bethany Lutheran Church, Women of Bethany, Montgomery Alumni Association, and a supporter of her granddaughter's charity the Taaluma Project.
Betts was a passionate sports fan and competitor. She was an avid bowler and was inducted into the Williamsport Bowling Hall of Fame. Her love of the New York Yankees was unmatched, until they made the unthinkable decision to not sign "Robbie" Cano.
Betts is survived by her two children, Jody Unis, of Allentown and Brad Scarborough, of Glen Rock. Also, she is survived by two grandchildren, Blake Unis, and his wife Caitlin of Macungie, and Whitney Unis, of Philadelphia.
A memorial service will be held at the Bethany Lutheran Church, 369 Broad St., Montoursville, at noon Saturday, April 12.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Lycoming County SPCA, 2805 Reach Road, Williamsport, PA 17701.
