Crash on Interstate 180

April 10, 2014
Williamsport Sun-Gazette
PHILIP A. HOLMES/Sun-Gazette
The driver of this Chevrolet Cruze was taken by ambulance to the Williamsport Regional Medical Center for treatment of injuries he suffered when the car slammed into the back of a tractor-trailer truck in the westbound lanes of Interstate 180, about a mile east of the Fairfield Road interchange, in Fairfield Township about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, state police said. Westbound traffic had slowed down because numerous containers holding glass jars had fallen out of the back of a pickup truck, police said. The injured man, whose identity was not available, was trapped in the wreckage for about 15 minutes before Montoursville firefighters freed him. The truck driver was not hurt, police said.
