The left arm should be stretched out but not stiff on the backswing, right arm for the left-hand golfer.
Many of the younger pros you see on television have their left arm straight and rigid. But if you watch golfers such as; Fred Couples on the Champions Tour, you will notice their arms are more relaxed. In fact, Fred Couples is one of the longer ball strikers on tour. Much of Fred's distance can be contributed to his relaxed rhythmic swing.
Stretching the arm out rigid actually slows the club down; try relaxing the arms and hands when hitting balls. You will be surprised how far the ball will travel with less effort.
Push the left arm but relax the muscles.
Don't forget to enjoy this great game called golf.
