Mary Elizabeth Hoffer, 88, of Jersey Shore, passed away Saturday, April 26, 2014, at ManorCare, Jersey Shore.
She was born March 23, 1926, in Sugar Valley, a daughter of Harry "Saul" and Edna (Kleckner) Lamey.
Mary was married to Royall J. "Buck" Hoffer who passed away Aug. 25, 1976.
She was a cafeteria worker and dietician for the Jersey Shore School District, retiring in the mid '80s.
Mary was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church of Jersey Shore.
She was a member of the D.A.R. and was a very accomplished and gifted genealogist.
Mary was a member and former treasurer of the Sugar Valley Historical Society.
She enjoyed gardening and sewing.
Her survivors include her daughters, Karen E. (Rev. Dr. Kerry) Aucker, of Lock Haven and Sandra K. Hoffer, of Jersey Shore; a brother, Fredrick R. (Therese) Hoffer, of S. Hampton, Mass.; five grandchildren, Laughlin, Thaddeus, Fredrick, Teresa and Becky; along with six great-grandchildren and three stepgreat-grandchildren.
Family suggests memorial contributions can be made to the St. John's Lutheran Church.
Mary's Life Celebration will be held 11 a.m. Friday, May 2, 2014, at the St. John's Lutheran Church, 229 S. Broad St., Jersey Shore, with Mary's son-in-law, Rev. Dr. Kerry R. Aucker officiating. Interment will follow in Jersey Shore Cemetery.
Arrangements are being handled by the Rearick-Carpenter Funeral Home, Ltd., "A Life Celebration Home," 1002 Allegheny St., Jersey Shore.
