Karen L. (Nolan) Dietrich, 69, of North Huntingdon, died Thursday, May 1, 2014, at home. She was born July 27, 1944, in Williamsport, a daughter of the late I.B. and Lola (Bittner) Nolan.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, David E. Dietrich.
Karen graduated from Bald Eagle-Nittany High School in 1962 and from Lock Haven University in 1966. She was a school teacher in Lock Haven and New York, and taught piano for many years. She was instrumental in creating an I.B. Nolan family scholarship at the Bald Eagle-Nittany High School where her father was principal. She was active in both the Boy and Girl Scouts and a member of the Friends of the Norwin Public Library. She enjoyed her retirement by spending time with her family and continued to play her pianos. Those who were touched by her will miss her deeply.
Surviving are her children, David E. (Merry) Dietrich III, of North Huntingdon, Scott N. Dietrich (Lori Hildenbrand), of North Huntingdon and Wendy L. States (Ian Wat), of Mifflinburg; four grandchildren, Lena and Nathan Dietrich and Tyler and Sean Hildebrand; two brothers, Gary (Karen) Nolan, of Heston, Stan (Evelyn) Nolan, of Mifflinburg; and a sister, Cheryl (Ray) Barner, of Duncansville.
Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the William Snyder Funeral Home, Inc., 521 Main St., Irwin, 724-863-1200. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, in St. Luke's United Church of Christ, 1175 W. Fourth St., Lock Haven with Rev. Patty Dodds officiating.
Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Mill Hall.
