Annual orchid show coming to Centre County
STATE COLLEGE - The Central Pennsylvania Orchid Society will hold its 49th annual Orchid Show on Saturday and next Sunday at the Snider Agricultural Arena on the Penn State campus.
The show is free, and its hours are 1 to 7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. next Sunday.

Bring your 'mutt' to the fun fest
SAYRE - The fourth annual Mutt Dog Walk and Fun Fest will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Riverfront Park. Events include a pledge dog walk, canine contests, food and vendors.
Prizes will be awarded for the top individual and team fundraisers as well as for the winners of the following contests: owner-pup look alike, tail wagging, Frosty Paws eating, and best dog trick.
Proceeds benefit Animal Care Sanctuary, which is in its 47th year of operation caring for animals that have found themselves without a home.

Motorcycle ride, craft fair in South Side
The Friends of Paws Park will hold its third annual Doggone motorcycle ride and craft and vendor fair from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 17 at the Lions Pavilion in the South Williamsport Park Complex.
Rider registration is from 9 to 11 a.m. and a fee applies. Groups of 10 or more get a discount.
Riders will depart from and return to the pavilion where they will be served a barbecue chicken dinner. The general public may purchase chicken dinners, too.

The event also features craft and product vendors, fire and rescue vehicles, entertainment and an appearance by McGruff the Crime Dog. The South Williamsport K9 unit will present a skills demonstration at 2 p.m.
Proceeds benefit the K9 unite and the Paws Park, an off-leash dog park.
Township celebrates bicentennial
KNOXVILLE - Deerfield Township in Tioga County will celebrate its 200th birthday on Saturday at the Knoxville Community Center, 301 E. Main St.
Free and public festivities begin at noon as the township supervisors greet quests. Gene Seelye will give a short presentation on the history of the township, and the bicentennial quilt will be available for everyone to sign.
A "dish-to-pass" luncheon is scheduled for 1 p.m. in the gym. Contests and games with prizes for all ages will begin at 1:30.
A Chinese auction will include merchandise and services such as massages, vehicle inspections, cases of oil, gift certificates and afghans. A local resident artist has donated a new pencil drawing of Academy Corners, made especially for the bicentennial celebration.
Displays of family memorabilia, vintage tools, local historical photographs and more are planned. Anyone wishing to have a display should call 814-326-4407.
Annual tractor parade returns to Rauchtown
The 10th annual tractor parade, sponsored by the Rauchtown Nippenose Valley Lions, will begin Saturday at the Rauchtown Community Park on Route 880. The first, and slowest, group of tractors will depart at 8:45 a.m. for a 20-mile tour of the Nippenose Valley.
The Lions will serve breakfast and a chicken barbecue lunch at the park.
A $25 entry fee will enable a driver to enter a tractor and includes a commemorative gift and breakfast and lunch for the driver.
Proceeds benefit future Lions projects in the community.
The ride is open to any full-size tractor, new, used or restored with rubber wheels.

Community Garden sets planning and planting workshop
LEWISBURG - The Lewisburg Community Garden will hold a free planning and planting workshop at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Public Library for Union County, 255 Reitz Blvd. Registration is not necessary.
Bucknell biology professor Mark Spiro will cover planning, planting, rotating and season extension.
