Each year, Junior Achievement of Northeast Pennsylvania inducts honorees into its Business Hall of Fame to recognize the community contributions of local business leaders and companies.
This year, Blue Cross of Northeastern Pennsylvania will proudly be inducted into Junior Achievement's 27th Annual Business Hall of Fame. Blue Cross will receive the Outstanding Sponsor Award at an event to be held May 30 at Mount Airy Casino and Resort in Mount Pocono, according to a news release.
"We chose to honor BCNEPA not only for its support of Junior Achievement, but for all of the great things the company and its employees do in our community," said Melissa Turlip, president of Junior Achievement. "BCNEPA's support of our BizTown program, for example, really makes a difference in the lives of the students who participate. They are able to learn so much about health and wellness, which is something they can carry into adulthood."
Blue Cross has been involved with Junior Achievement and its BizTown program for more than a decade, the news release said. BizTown teaches students in grades four through six about the importance of job readiness, teamwork and managing finances.
Bill Grant of Hildebrandt Learning Centers, LLC, Patrick, PJ and Kristin Dempsey of Dempsey Uniform and Linen Supply, and Sallie Mae also will be honored at the May 30 event.
Headquartered in Wilkes-Barre, Blue Cross of Northeastern Pennsylvania is an independent licensee of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association and offers health insurance products and administrative services in 13 counties in northeastern and north central Pennsylvania.
