Carl E. Wheeland, 86, of 445 Wyndham Court, Loyalsock Township, passed away Friday, May 16, 2014, at Sycamore Manor.
He was born July 13, 1927, in Cogan Station, the third of nine children to Harrison O. and Margaret Mosteller Wheeland.
Carl was a World War II Army veteran and retired as the owner/operator of Home Service Beverage. He had also worked for the former Moltz Chevrolet Co.
He was a member of the Eugene Grafius American Legion Post No. 104, the Zafar Grotto, the Loyalsock Creek Men's Club and the Lick Run Hunting Club. Carl enjoyed hunting, fishing and farming.
Carl was predeceased by his first wife, the former Mary Schriner; a great-grandson, Alex J.; four brothers; and three sisters.
He is survived by his wife of 18 years, the former Patricia James Ingram; two sons, Jay S. (Nancy), of Hamburg and Jeff C., of Williamsport; two daughters, Joanne L. (Michael) Capozzi, of Wernersville and Judy L. (John) Eck, of Montoursville; a stepdaughter, Ami M. (Dr. Charles) Pagana, of Montgomery; a brother, John (Ruth) Wheeland, of Loyalsock Township; two sisters, Soloma Dangle, of Montoursville and Rita (Carl) Poust, of Hughesville; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
Private family services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at Spitler Funeral Home, Montoursville, with the Rev. Samuel Fry officiating. Interment will be in the Montoursville Cemetery and there is no visitation.
