James W. Beatty, 65, died suddenly at Evangelical Hospital, in Lewisburg, on May 14, 2014.
A resident of the Williamsport area for many years, Jim had recently resided in Mifflinburg, with his wife for the past year.
He was born the son of the late Thomas G. Beatty and the late Dorothy Happe Beatty, on October 15, 1948, at Bethesda Naval Hospital in Maryland
Jim graduated from Montoursville High School in 1967 and from Williamsport Area Community College with an associate degree, as a forestry technician.
After 20 years with the Bureau of Forestry, as a forest firefighter supervisor, he spent several years in the home improvement trade, where at one time he was a production supervisor for Your Building Center (YBC). He also had been the co-owner and a "devout" member of the 21 Club.
Jim was an Eagle Scout and achieved the Order of the Arrow. He was the waterfront director at Camp Kline during those years.
A "professional Irishman," he worked hard and played hard. He loved music especially live performances. He was often known to say "I'm with the band!" and he used to always tell his sons "your word is your bond."
Kind and generous, he always lent a helping hand. He loved his animal companions, the last ones being Eastwood, the black cat, and Styles, the pitbull mix.
Jim was an avid reader and watcher of films, and as a real history buff, especially enjoyed tales of military battles.
Some of his favorite things: road trips, summer, fireplaces and bonfires, watching bears outside the living room windows, The History Channel, fishing with his father, writing poetry, and dancing in the rain.
He was sometimes the life of the party, other times quiet and mysterious. Always an easy going, or a bit complex, an original and interesting man. He will be missed and remembered by very many people.
Jim is survived by his wife of 15 years, Kerrin Keith Beatty; a daughter, Pam (Jeremiah) Nelson, of Montoursville: two sons, Colin J. Beatty, of Williamsport, and son, Kyle T. Beatty, of Williamsport; brother, Thomas (Kathleen) Beatty, of Rockford, Ill.; two sisters, Katherine (Frank) Scheuren, of Womelsdorf, and Mary Jo (Gerry) Gustus, of Andover, Mass.; three grandchildren, Olivia Beatty, Riley Nelson and Cameron Nelson; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy A. Beatty, a brother, Michael J. Beatty and he was widowed by the mother of his two sons, Rosemary Cimabue Beatty.
