Jane E. Bower, 87, of Williamsport, died Friday, May 23, 2014, at The Williamsport Home.
Born March 17, 1927, in Williamsport, she was a daughter of the late William and Mary Winner Bower.
Jane was a graduate of Lock Haven University, and she received her master's degree from Bucknell University. She was a teacher in St. Mary's for seven years, and was a guidance counselor and teacher in Milton School District for 34 years.
Jane was a member of Memorial Baptist Church for more than 70 years and was superintendent of the Jr. Dept. for 28 years. She worked with Call-A-Story, a children's ministry here in the Williamsport area. She was a faithful praying Christian for many years.
Surviving is her sister, Mary Louise Baker, of Montoursville. She was preceded in death by her brother, Richard W. Bower and long time friend, Dorothy Balch.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 1 p.m. at Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond St., with her former pastor, the Rev. Tim Brose, officiating. There will be a visitation from noon until the time of service.
Interment will be in Wildwood Cemetery.
