Jean Marie Thompson, 75, of Williamsport, passed away early Saturday morning at The Gatehouse while surrounded by her children and grandchildren.
Jean was a proud later-in-life 1997 graduate of Pennsylvania College of Technology and worked at Early Childhood Learning Center at First Southern Baptist Church in Williamsport until last year, where she was employed doing what she loved helping prepare local children for preschool. She loved NASCAR, Elvis and spending time with her family.
She was preceeded in death by her parents, Nichlaus and Marie Hitzel, of Galeton.

She is survived by her brother, Franklin Hitzel, of Galeton; her son, Kelly Thompson (Lorraine), of Covington; her daughters, Cheryl Nead (Edward), of Hillsboro, N.H., Kathi Davis (Gary), of Sterling Heights, Mich., Mary Jacobs (Rick Wayman), of Hughesville, and Leslie Butts (Terry), of Williamsport.
She will also be greatly missed by her 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 4, 2014, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at First Southern Baptist Church, 89 Kimble Hill Road, Williamsport. A memorial service will follow from 7:30 to 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Spitler Funeral Home or the Gatehouse at Divine Providence Hospital.
